Sportsmanship
We win and lose graciously, congratulate each other and respect every judge's decision.
We're a group of dog owners, exhibitors and breeders who want the sport of purebred dogs to thrive in north-central Wyoming.
The Big Horn Basin Kennel Club is a new all-breed dog club and a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our members come from across the Basin and own everything from working ranch dogs to toy breeds.
A kennel club is a community organization for people who love dogs. Clubs like ours put on dog shows, teach responsible ownership, mentor newcomers to the sport and support the communities around them. Many of the country's best-known shows are run entirely by volunteer clubs, and that's the model we're following.
Exhibitors in our corner of Wyoming often travel long distances to compete. A local club means shows, practice events and mentors much closer to home, and a reason for exhibitors from other states to visit our towns.
Our first dog show is August 27–29, 2027. As the club grows, we plan to fund scholarships for junior handlers and donate to local nonprofits.
We win and lose graciously, congratulate each other and respect every judge's decision.
The health and welfare of every dog, at home and at the show, comes before ribbons.
No question is too basic. Experienced members mentor anyone who wants to learn.
We're good neighbors, and we put what we raise back into the Basin.
Membership is open to anyone who loves dogs. No show experience needed.
